One of the things I love about working as a genealogist is that I can work from anywhere! All I need are my laptop and an internet connection and I’m good to go. This week my husband was attending a conference in Las Vegas and I tagged along. It was so nice to be able to spend time working without distractions for a few days while he attended his conference sessions. I was able to complete this week’s assignment on Source Citations for my Research Like a Pro Study Group, finish up the New Jersey locality guide I have been working on, write a few blog posts, and make progress on my 4-generation project for accreditation. I had a really productive as well as relaxing week. That being said, I’m happy to be home! It’s always nice to come home to family and friends.
I’ve also been brainstorming for some new ideas for training ward consultants in my calling as a stake temple and family history consultant. I often find that I have my best ideas when I am traveling. I am excited about the ideas the stake Temple and Family History committee members have proposed. The training will be centered around the idea of simple ways to help people take the “next step” on their family history journey. As I have served as a consultant for the last several years, I have come to appreciate the value of small and simple lessons for those who are new to family history work rather than overloading them with information. It will be fun to see it all come together.
I hope you’ve all had a great week! I’d love to hear what you’re working on and what questions or roadblocks you have encountered as you are working to #gatheryourtribe. Feel free to ask questions in the comments below or contact me directly using the contact form!
