I have been excited to learn more about using DNA in my genealogical research. One problem: I had never had my DNA tested! In order to overcome this hurdle, I bought Ancestry DNA kits for myself and my husband at Roots Tech in March. Then, they sat on my desk for a couple of months before we finally took the time to collect samples and send them in for analysis. This last week, we got our results!

My ethnicity estimate was not too surprising. The 3% Ireland and Scotland is the only thing that I wonder about, so that will need some further investigation.

I’m excited to start organizing my matches and exploring ThruLines. I want to create an objective for a research project involving DNA in the near future. In the meantime, I’m reading articles and listening to webinars and podcasts about DNA research. It’s exciting to learn about the possibilities!
