RootsTech 2023 is rapidly approaching! It will be held both in person and virtually on March 2-4, with different course offerings for each event. The virtual event is free, and a pass to the in-person event is just $98 for all three days. You can register for both events here.
The virtual event will include 200+ NEW on-demand classes and sessions. The courses will be available on demand through the remainder of the year (and probably beyond). You will be able to chat online with friends and industry experts throughout the event.
The in-person event will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. It will feature exclusive classes from expert genealogists, an expo hall filled with the latest innovations and products from industry experts, and face-to-face connections with friends old and new.
I’m excited to be participating in both the in-person and the virtual events this year. I will be presenting twice for each option. Here are my topics:
In-Person Lectures held at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City:
Keys to Finding Your Pennsylvania German Ancestors in the Keystone State, March 2, 2023, 4:30 pm MT
German immigrants flooded into Pennsylvania throughout the 18th century. When they arrived, they became Pennsylvania residents, and records created for them were similar to records created for any Pennsylvanian. However, our German ancestors maintained their own language, communities, and customs. Learning about practices unique to Pennsylvania Germans will help identify them in Pennsylvania records.
Last Man Standing: Identifying a Father Through the Process of Elimination, March 3, 2023, 8:00 am MT
Documentary evidence may fail to directly identify the father of a research subject. Learn strategies that will help you identify candidates and then work to eliminate them until only one possibility remains.
Live Webinars held via Zoom:
Research 101: Tools and Techniques for Beginning Genealogists, March 2, 2023, 9:30 am MT
Beginning genealogists will learn how to use tools at FamilySearch in a step-by-step process that will lead them to successfully formulate and answer research questions.
No Empty Chairs: Finding Missing Family Members When Your Fan Chart is Full, March 4, 9:30 am MT
Have you ever said, “My family history is all done” or “I don’t know where to begin?” If so, this class is for you. Learn about new and simple ways to look at your family tree and find missing family members in need of temple ordinances. Then discover what is needed to prepare their names for temple work.

Hello Alice,
Is there any way to find the speakers and topics scheduled for the in-person sessions yet?
Sometimes it’s useful for planning one’s time. I know you know that, but I’m not sure the organizers know that ;).
Hope all is well, maybe I will bump unto you this year!
Thanks,
Clytee
Hi Clytee, the schedule hasn’t been released yet, but I hope it will be soon! I agree, it is very nice to be able to make a plan. I hope to see you too! In addition to speaking, I will be at the FamilyLocket booth part of the time.
Hi Clytee,
